Jakarta — The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) retreated after maintaining a consistent upward trend over the preceding days. The JCI weakened by 0.25 per cent, or 21.14 points, to 8,289.08 at the close of the first trading session on Thursday, 19 February 2026.

The JCI moved within a range of 8,282 to an intraday high of 8,376. Transaction value reached Rp 16.35 trillion, with a total of 2.10 million trades recorded.

The technology sector posted the sharpest decline at 1.39 per cent. Significant corrections also hit the financial sector, down 0.76 per cent, and the industrial sector, which fell 0.66 per cent.

Nevertheless, several other sectors managed to gain ground. Phintraco Sekuritas reported that the three best-performing sectors were raw materials, up 2.86 per cent; transportation, surging 1.99 per cent; and energy, rising 0.74 per cent.

On the technical side, the Phintraco Sekuritas analyst team observed that the MACD histogram was trending flat, indicating that upward momentum was beginning to wane. Meanwhile, the Stochastic RSI indicator, already in overbought territory, signalled that room for further gains was becoming limited.

"Taking into account this combination of indicators, we project the JCI to move within a range of 8,275 to 8,325 during the second trading session today," the Phintraco Sekuritas analyst team forecast in their daily research note on Thursday, 19 February 2026.

Phintraco Sekuritas also reported that several stocks managed to post the highest price gains whilst the JCI languished. The following are the three top gainers among the 45 blue-chip stocks (LQ45):

PT Merdeka Battery Materials Tbk (MBMA) — Shares soared by a double-digit 15.92 per cent, or 125 points, to reach 910.

PT Merdeka Copper Gold Tbk (MDKA) — Shares jumped 7.60 per cent, or 250 points, to 3,540.

PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI) — Shares rose 7.04 per cent, or 20 points, to 304.
