JCI Closes Up More Than 1 Per Cent as Market Optimism Returns — Three Top-Gaining Stocks
Jakarta — The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) posted a significant jump at the close of trading on Wednesday, 18 February 2026, rising 1.19 per cent or 97.96 points to reach 8,310.23.
The JCI's movement remained consistently in positive territory throughout the trading session, with an intraday low of 8,227. Transaction value reached Rp 25.33 trillion with a trading volume of Rp 527.48 million across a total of 3.20 million transactions.
All sectors finished in the green, led by transport with a gain of 3.25 per cent. Energy posted a notable rise of 2.45 per cent, consumer cyclicals climbed 2.00 per cent, and infrastructure advanced 1.94 per cent. Industrials gained 1.91 per cent, non-cyclical consumer stocks rose 1.71 per cent, technology added 1.35 per cent, financials strengthened 0.89 per cent, basic materials edged up 0.58 per cent, and healthcare rose 0.12 per cent.
"The JCI closed higher after the extended holiday, supported by market optimism. Expectations of continued solid economic conditions, anticipated corporate earnings performance, and dividend distributions were among the factors underpinning this optimism," said the Phintraco Sekuritas analyst team, as cited from their daily research note on Wednesday.
On a technical basis, the Phintraco Sekuritas analyst team observed a Golden Cross formation on the JCI's MACD indicator, supported by rising buying volume. The Stochastic RSI remained in the pivot area, and the JCI closed above its five-day moving average.
"Investors will be watching the outcome of Bank Indonesia's Board of Governors Meeting, which is expected to maintain the BI Rate at 4.75 per cent," the Phintraco analysts added.
Phintraco Sekuritas also reported that several stocks among the LQ45 blue-chip index recorded the highest price gains. The three top-performing stocks were as follows:
PT Merdeka Battery Materials Tbk (MBMA) surged 8.28 per cent or 60 points to close at 785.
PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk (MEDC) rose 6.65 per cent or 105 points to 1,685.
PT Elang Mahkota Teknologi Tbk (EMTK) gained 5.95 per cent or 55 points to 980.
