Jakarta - The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) corrected by 34.12 points or 0.48% to the level of 7,072.39 at the close of trading on Tuesday, 28 April 2026. The decline occurred amid a scarcity of sufficiently strong new positive factors.

The JCI was observed in the range of around 7,152, while the intraday low touched 7,033. Transaction value was recorded at Rp17.42 trillion, daily transaction volume at Rp29.81 billion, and total trading activity at 2.07 million transactions.

The JCI’s decline aligned with the slump in the majority of Asian stock indices, which also closed weaker amid uncertainty over the resolution of the conflict in the Middle East. US President Donald Trump is considering Iran’s offer to open the Strait of Hormuz.

However, Iran has proposed conditions that the US lift the blockade and end the conflict. It remains unclear how Trump will decide on Iran’s proposal.

“Technically, the formation of a negative MACD histogram for the JCI continues, and the Stochastic RSI has entered the oversold area. The JCI approached a gap down at 7,022 before closing at 7,072,” explained the Phintraco Sekuritas Analysis Team, quoted from its daily research on Tuesday, 28 April 2026.

By sector, pressure came from the non-cyclical consumer sector, which plunged 1.61%. The basic materials and infrastructure sectors also fell sharply, by 1.48% and 0.84% respectively.

Although the JCI plunged into the red zone, the financial sector surged 0.92%. The property sector also strengthened by 0.27%, and the industrial sector rose 0.10%.

Phintraco Sekuritas also reported the shares that recorded the highest price jumps (top gainers) throughout today’s trading session, including:

PT Merdeka Battery Materials Tbk (MBMA)

MBMA shares strengthened 3.68% or 25 points to 705.

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBNI)

BBNI shares jumped 1.88% or 70 points to 3,790.
