Jayawijaya Regency Receives Awards for Education Services and Waste Management
The Jayawijaya Regency Government, located in Highland Papua, has achieved awards in the categories of resident access to education services, as well as waste management and environmental preservation at the district capital level, during the 2026 Regional Papua Outstanding Government Awards held in Jakarta.
Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Ribka Haluk, expressed her appreciation for the performance of the Jayawijaya Regency Government in a written statement from Wamena on Friday, following the achievement of two awards at the event.
“We highly appreciate the achievements of the Jayawiyah Regency Government, which tonight secured third place specifically in the field of cleanliness, and first place in the field of education,” she stated.
According to Ribka, the achievement in cleanliness is particularly noteworthy given that Jayawijaya Regency faces significant geographical and social challenges.
“These awards demonstrate the local government’s efforts in implementing improvements, innovation, and enhanced services to the community,” she added.
She explained that the two awards won by the Jayawijaya Regency Government pertain to the categories of resident access to education services and waste management and environmental preservation at the district capital level.
“We hope that the achievements obtained currently will be maintained and further improved in the delivery of services to the people of Jayawijaya Regency,” she said.
She further noted that the improvements in the cleanliness of Wamena are inseparable from the cooperation between the local government and various stakeholders. This collaboration involves the TP PKK, Dekranasda, the Environmental Agency (DLH), and other relevant regional agencies within the Jayawijaya Regency.
“We can see today that Wamena is cleaner, and this is due to the supported performance of the Chairperson of the PKK, who also serves as the Chairperson of Dekranasda, as well as the Environmental Agency in Jayawijaya,” Ribka remarked.
She stated that these achievements should not merely end as awards but should serve as motivation for the local government to continue improving cleanliness, environmental management, and the quality of public services in Jayawijaya Regency.
“We hope that moving forward, we will continue to accelerate efforts so that Jayawijaya becomes cleaner and more beautiful, in line with the President’s expectations,” Ribka concluded.
