Jayawijaya Regency Confirms Conducive Security Situation
Wamena (ANTARA) – The Jayawijaya Regency government in Papua Highlands Province has confirmed that public security and order is conducive, with inter-tribal conflicts having ended.
Regent Atenius Murib stated on Tuesday in Wamena that security and public order in Wamena, the administrative centre for both Papua Highlands Province and Jayawijaya Regency, is stable and conducive.
“The situation in Wamena is safe, and all social, economic, education, and health activities have resumed normally,” he said.
“We are grateful that the ‘patah panah’ ceremony was conducted at Jayawijaya Police Station, and both parties in conflict have agreed to resolve the matter amicably,” he added.
The regent thanked Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ribka Haluk, Papua Highlands Governor John Tabo, security forces, and all stakeholders for their role in successfully mediating the conflict and achieving peace.
He emphasised that inter-tribal conflicts must not recur in Jayawijaya Regency, as they could hinder regional development activities.
“All residents coming to Wamena from anywhere should work together to develop the region, transforming underdevelopment and isolation into progress across all sectors,” he said.
