Wamena — The Jayawijaya Police Resort in Papua Pegunungan has arrested the perpetrator of the murder of a civil servant in Wamena.

Deputy Chief of the Jayawijaya Police Resort, Chief Inspector Albert Mabel, led officers who apprehended the suspected murderer of a civil servant in Wamena with initials DK at his hideout in Walesi District, Jayawijaya Regency.

In a written statement in Wamena on Saturday, Mabel stated that the suspect was responsible for the murder of a victim with initials LS, which occurred on 24 February 2026 on Ahmad Yani Street in Wamena.

“The suspect initially fled, and we as police officers exerted every effort to apprehend him and hold him accountable for his actions,” he said.

He revealed that police conducted negotiations with the suspect’s family before making the arrest.

“Following the extensive negotiations we conducted, the suspect ultimately agreed to surrender himself without any resistance,” he said.
