Jayapura Regency Invites Vice President to Open Sentani Lake Festival

Jayapura (ANTARA) - The Jayapura Regency Government, Papua, will invite Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka to open the Sentani Lake Festival 2026. “We will visit the State Palace to invite the Vice President and the Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia to open the XV Sentani Lake Festival,” said Assistant I for Government Affairs of the Jayapura Regency Secretariat Office and Chairman of the XV Sentani Lake Festival Committee, Gilbert Yakwart, in a statement in Jayapura on Monday. According to Gilbert, the committee has set the schedule for the XV Sentani Lake Festival to take place on 3-5 August 2026, with the pre-festival running from 3 July to 2 August 2026. “This event is expected to serve as a platform for promoting Papua’s culture and natural environment, as well as improving the welfare of the local community,” he said. “We will gather one million hiloy from various villages in the Sentani area up to Grime Nawa,” he added. He further stated that the presence of the Vice President and the Minister of Tourism is hoped to increase the appeal for visitors, thereby impacting the economic improvement of the local community. “Therefore, we hope for support from all parties, including the community, so that the Sentani Lake Festival runs smoothly,” he said.
