Jayapura Regency commits to strengthening education infrastructure
Sentani (ANTARA) - The Jayapura Regency government in Papua is committed to strengthening education infrastructure in the region by revitalising facilities and infrastructure across 19 levels of education, from PAUD to SMA/SMK.
“Today, symbolically I have inaugurated the revitalisation of education infrastructure at SMA Negeri 3 Sentani, and this signals that the facilities of every school are being improved,” said the Regent of Jayapura, Papua, Yunus Wonda, in Sentani, on Friday.
According to Wonda, in addition to physical construction, the government is also continuing to improve the quality of human resources (SDM) so that education in Jayapura Regency continues to advance and develop.
“By building facilities and infrastructure in this school, it is also our commitment to undertake a ranking/grade system for education in Jayapura Regency,” he said.
Head of the Jayapura Regency Education Office Amelia Ondikeleuw said the revitalisation program of infrastructure and educational facilities is an effort to improve facilities in every school.
“Revitalisation of infrastructure and educational facilities is a programme of the central government with support from the regional income and expenditure budget (APBD),” she said.
She explained that the aid is not only in the form of building schools but also providing educational supporting facilities such as computers and laptops for a number of schools.
“Technological device assistance is most widely provided to PAUD level, and junior high schools (SMP) also receive laptops besides building construction,” she said.
Head of SMA Negeri 3 Sentani Elizabeth Kreuta said the school appreciates the assistance in building facilities and infrastructure delivered through the revitalisation programme.
“Such assistance helps the school meet the standards of educational facilities and infrastructure which have been limited,” she said.
She added that through this programme SMA Negeri 3 Sentani gains a number of new facilities such as a student dormitory, a school health unit, a counselling room, toilets, and two additional buildings.
