Jayapura Immigration took action against 115 foreigners in 2025
The Head of the Jayapura Immigration Office, Ben Yuda Karubaba, in Jayapura on Saturday, stated that the decrease indicates positive performance.
“We apprehended the foreign nationals for various immigration violations, ranging from overstaying their permits, misusing their visit visas, to failing to present valid travel documents during inspections,” he said.
According to Karubaba, monitoring of foreign nationals will continue to be strengthened through routine operations and joint operations with relevant agencies.
“This step is part of our commitment to maintaining regional sovereignty and security,” he said.
He stated that of the 115 foreign nationals prosecuted, 96 were from Papua New Guinea, 10 from Bangladesh, five from Egypt, two from Sri Lanka, one from China, and one from India.
“In addition to administrative action in the form of detection and deportation, several cases are also being processed further in accordance with applicable laws and regulations,” he said.
Therefore, by early 2026, his office had deported six foreign nationals from Papua New Guinea who had completed their sentences in correctional facilities in Jayapura.
He said that throughout 2025, local immigration officers conducted surveillance operations at several vulnerable points, including border areas, development project sites, and centers of economic activity.
