Jayapura Government Equips Indigenous Papuan MSMEs with Digital Competencies

The Jayapura Regency Government is equipping indigenous Papuan Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) actors with digital skills and competencies to increase the utilisation of the OAPSHOP digital platform as a means of marketing and business development.

Abdul Rahman Basri, Assistant II for Economy and Development of the Jayapura Regency Regional Secretariat, stated in Jayapura on Tuesday that digital competency for MSMEs aims to broaden market reach, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen business competitiveness.

“Through digital platforms, we can encourage business actors to complete their business profiles and product catalogues, as well as expand the use of non-cash transactions,” he said.

According to Basri, the OAPSHOP development programme, which is set to be initiated in 202_ [sic] by the Jayapura Regency Communication and Informatics Office, aims to strengthen the independence of indigenous Papuan communities.

“Therefore, continuous mentoring is necessary so that MSME actors can optimise this application,” he added.

He explained that the mentoring being implemented is an effort by the local government to ensure that indigenous Papuan MSMEs not only have access to digital technology but also use it effectively to support business development.

“The mentoring includes providing MSMEs with an understanding of business profile management, product catalogue updates, and non-cash transactions using QRIS,” he continued.

He added that his office hopes the OAPSHOP platform will create a digital ecosystem capable of connecting MSME actors with a wider market.
