Jayapura Government Equips Indigenous Papuan MSMEs with Digital Competencies

The Jayapura Regency Government is equipping indigenous Papuan micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with digital skills and competencies to enhance the use of the OAPSHOP platform as a marketing and business development tool. Abdul Rahman Basri, Assistant II for Economic and Development Affairs at the Jayapura Regional Secretariat, stated that digital competencies for MSMEs aim to broaden market reach, increase operational efficiency, and strengthen business competitiveness. “Through the digital platform, we can encourage business actors to complete their business profiles and product catalogues, as well as expand the use of non-cash transactions,” he said. According to Basri, the OAPSHOP development programme, initiated in 2025 by the Jayapura Communication and Informatics Office, is designed to strengthen the self-reliance of indigenous Papuan communities. “Therefore, continuous assistance is needed so that MSMEs can optimise this application,” he added. He explained that the assistance provided is part of the local government’s effort to ensure that indigenous Papuan MSMEs not only have access to digital technology but also use it effectively to support business development. “The assistance includes providing MSMEs with an understanding of business profile management, updating product catalogues, and using QRIS for non-cash transactions,” he said. He added that the government hopes the OAPSHOP platform will create a digital ecosystem that connects MSMEs with a wider market.
