Jayapura Customs destroys 73,928 illegal cigarettes

Kantor Pengawasan dan Pelayanan Bea dan Cukai (KPPBC) Tipe Madya Pabean C Jayapura memusnahkan 73.928 batang rokok ilegal hasil penindakan di wilayah Papua hingga Mei 2026. Kepala KPPBC Jayapura Fungki Awaludin di Jayapura, Sabtu, mengatakan pemusnahan ini merupakan bentuk komitmen dalam memberantas peredaran barang kena cukai ilegal sekaligus melindungi masyarakat dari dampak negatif barang ilegal. On Friday (22 May) we together with law enforcement and related agencies carried out the destruction of 73,928 illegal cigarettes in Papua at the Jayapura State Financial Building. Total value of the goods destroyed is estimated at Rp127.1 million, with potential losses to the state avoided totalling Rp61.24 million, he said. He explained that the action was the result of the Operation Gempur Illegal Excise Goods, conducted through 17 seizures of illegal cigarettes and three seizures of illegal MMEA in Papua. “The most common modes of violation were excisable goods without a duty stamp affixed and the use of counterfeit duty stamps,” he said.
