Jaya Group Aims to Strengthen Trade Between Indonesia and Belarus
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Indonesia Belarus Jaya, under the auspices of Jaya Group, is targeting strengthening trade between Indonesia and Belarus through business cooperation with several companies from Belarus.
CEO of Jaya Group Tomy Suhartanto said that the company was formed to support bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Belarus through concrete steps in the trade and industrial sectors.
“PT Indonesia Belarus Jaya is a company established under the auspices of Holding Jaya Group. Its focus and concern are to directly support and take real action to support bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Belarus,” Tomy said in Jakarta, Saturday.
According to him, the cooperation is aimed at optimizing the potential of commodities from both countries so that they can be absorbed and utilized by each other’s markets.
He mentioned that Indonesian commodities that have the potential to be accepted in the Belarusian market include cocoa and palm oil.
Meanwhile, products from Belarus that are considered potentially useful in Indonesia include milk, cables and wires, and fertilizers.
“Our concern in this cooperation process is essentially to optimize all the existing potential between the two countries,” said Tomy.
PT Indonesia Belarus Jaya has signed a business memorandum of understanding with several Belarusian companies, namely OJSC Minsk Dairy Plant No. 1, Energi Complekt, OJSC Dolomite, and Belindo Trade.
The signing of the cooperation was carried out in conjunction with the 8th Indonesia-Belarus Joint Commission Meeting on Economic Cooperation in Minsk, Belarus on Friday (August 15).
The joint commission meeting was marked by the signing of Agreed Minutes by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Airlangga Hartarto and Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Viktor Karankevich.
The Indonesian and Belarusian governments discussed a number of areas of cooperation in the meeting, including trade, investment, industry, agriculture and food security, forestry, banking, health, education, science and technology, culture, sports, and tourism.
In addition to the cooperation between PT Indonesia Belarus Jaya, memorandums of understanding were also carried out between PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) and Nedra Nezhin. The total value of the five business commitments from the memorandum of understanding reached IDR 7 trillion.
According to Tomy, the signing of international business cooperation is not only for business interests but also to support the government’s strategic agenda in strengthening economic relations between Indonesia and Belarus.
In addition, the cooperation is also expected to increase the competitiveness of the domestic market through the entry of competitive products.
“The purpose of us making this international business agreement is not only to support the government’s program but also to provide competitive advantages in the Indonesian market,” he said.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto also said that the agreements reached in the joint commission meeting need to be translated into concrete steps that have a direct impact on improving economic relations between the two countries.
Furthermore, Tomy is optimistic that economic relations between Indonesia and Belarus will continue to develop in the future as opportunities for trade and industrial cooperation open up in various strategic sectors.
According to him, the foundation of Indonesian-Belarusian relations has been established since the era of former President Abdurrahman Wahid and has the potential to develop more optimally during the administration of President Prabowo Subianto.
