Javan Slow Loris Found by Bird Searcher, Handed Over to BKSDA Bogor by Firefighters
Firefighters evacuated a protected Javan slow loris (Nycticebus javanicus) in Cibadak Village, Tanjungsari District, Bogor, West Java. The animal was found by a resident who was searching for birds in a rambutan tree.
Upon receiving the report on Monday evening, the fire and rescue team immediately went to the location. The evacuation process took approximately 45 minutes.
‘The situation is now under control, and the Javan slow loris was successfully evacuated by the team,’ said a Bogor Regency fire department official on Wednesday.
The fire department subsequently handed the animal over to the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA). The slow loris, estimated to be around two years old, will be cared for by the authorised agency. ‘This demonstrates our commitment to handing over protected wildlife to those with the authority to care for and look after them,’ the official stated in a shared video.
