Java Predicted to Enter Rainy Season in November
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that Java will enter the rainy season in November 2026. However, rainfall on the island during that month is still expected to be below normal.
"In October and November, we are starting to see yellow colours appear, indicating that rainfall in Indonesia is beginning to return to normal. Although we also see that in November, rainfall on Java, for example, is still below normal, the rain has already started to arrive and enter the Java region," said BMKG Deputy for Climatology Ardhasena Sopaheluwakan during a press conference at his office in Jakarta on Thursday (30/7/2026), as quoted by detikNews.
Some regions in Indonesia have already entered the rainy season in October. The rainy season will expand further in November. "So in November, we can see in the bottom right image that the majority of the colours are already yellowish, indicating the rainy season has begun," he explained.
However, the arrival of the rainy season does not coincide with the end of the El Niño phenomenon. El Niño is predicted to continue until early 2027. "Drought is not the same as El Niño. So, the El Niño will still be ongoing until early 2027, but its impact on us will end starting from mid-October, then continuing into November," he stated.
