Jatiwaringin Landfill Firefighting Continues with BNPB Helicopter Support

Firefighters are continuing the process of extinguishing the fire at the Jatiwaringin Landfill (TPA) in Tangerang Regency, Banten. The firefighting process this morning will involve a team from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).

“It is still ongoing this morning,” said a Tangerang Regency firefighter, confirmed on Wednesday (1/7/2026) at 07:03 WIB.

The number of firefighting units deployed by the fire department remains at 10. He noted that the firefighting efforts this morning will be assisted by a BNPB water bombing helicopter.

“The schedule for water spraying using assistance from the BNPB helicopter is set for just before 09:00 WIB. We have not yet reached the cooling stage; we are still in the active firefighting phase,” he said.

The Head of the BNPB Centre for Disaster Data, Information, and Communication, Abdul Muhari, stated that his agency will deploy a water bombing helicopter to extinguish the fire at the Jatiwaringin landfill. BNPB is also conducting weather modification operations (OMC).

“Starting today, we will conduct water bombing operations and weather modification,” Abdul Muhari told reporters on Tuesday (30/6/2026).

Muhari mentioned that BNPB will deploy one water bombing helicopter capable of carrying large volumes of water. Additionally, the agency is preparing a Caravan aircraft for weather modification.

“Tomorrow, for certain, there will be one water bombing helicopter; we will see the developments on the ground,” said Muhari.

“One water bombing helicopter and one Caravan aircraft for weather modification,” he added.
