Jatiwaringin Landfill Firefighting Continues with BNPB Helicopter Support
Firefighters are continuing operations to extinguish a fire at the Jatiwaringin final disposal site (TPA) in Tangerang Regency, Banten, with assistance from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) this morning. A Tangerang Regency fire department official confirmed the ongoing efforts at 07:03 WIB on Wednesday, stating that the same ten ground units remain deployed. The official noted that the morning’s operations would be supported by a water-bombing helicopter from BNPB, with the process scheduled to begin around 09:00 WIB, and that the focus remains on active firefighting rather than cooling. Abdul Muhari, Head of the BNPB Data, Information and Disaster Communication Centre, had previously announced that the agency would deploy a water-bombing helicopter and conduct weather modification operations. He stated that one helicopter capable of carrying large volumes of water and a caravan aircraft for weather modification would be deployed, with further developments to be assessed on the ground.
