Jatiwaringin Landfill Fire Continues, 158 Residents Evacuated
Firefighting operations at the Jatiwaringin Final Processing Site (TPA) in Mauk, Tangerang Regency, are still ongoing on the eighth day. A total of 158 affected residents have been evacuated.
Head of Waste Management, Hazardous Waste, and Pollution Control, Ruli Riatno, stated that the evacuees come from two villages, Tanjakan Mekar and Rajeg Mulya.
“Evacuation data as of the post board, Tuesday, 7 July. Tanjakan Mekar Village: 44 families or 144 individuals. Rajeg Mulya Village: 7 families or 14 individuals. Total 51 families or 158 individuals,” Ruli said on Tuesday (7/7/2026).
According to him, on this eighth day of handling, four areas are affected in the northern, western, southern, and eastern sections. Currently, operations are being assisted by three water-bombing units and aerial monitoring using drones.
“Today’s target is to isolate active fire spots, cool hot areas, and monitor the temperature of the waste pile,” he stated.
The total combined personnel amounts to 380 people using 47 units of vehicles and equipment.
“19 fire engines, 4 water tankers, 8 excavators, 8 bulldozers, 4 water-bombing helicopters, 4 monitoring drones,” he said.
The affected area covers approximately 15 hectares with high smoke levels. Meanwhile, there have been no fatalities in the incident.
