Jatim Police Chief Reveals Suspected Chemical Materials at Jember Mosque Explosion Crime Scene
The Police Chief of Jawa Timur (Jatim), Irjen Nanang Avianto, has called on the public to remain calm following an explosion incident at the Masjid Raya Pesona in Pesona Regency, Jember. He assured the public that the situation at the scene is now fully under police control.
Currently, a joint team from Jatim Police is continuing intensive fieldwork to determine the precise cause of the incident through crime scene investigation (TKP).
“We urge the public that this situation is now under our control. I remind the public to continue with their regular daily activities,” Nanang stated.
Nanang emphasised that the investigation process cannot be rushed. This is due to suspected chemical materials at the location that require specialist handling by the Jatim Police Forensic Laboratory Team (Labfor).
“We do not want to be rushed so that we can be more accurate. Because there are suspected chemical materials involved, the collection process at the crime scene uses equipment from Labfor that requires precision and accuracy,” Nanang explained.
“Our personnel are currently working on this. I have also ordered teams from the Police, Brimob, the Bomb Disposal Unit (Jibom), and the Labfor team, including the Densus 88 Counter-Terrorism Task Force stationed at Jatim Police, to provide backup for the investigation process,” he added.
