Jatiluhur Security Guard Found Dead, Floating with Hands Cuffed
A security guard named Riyanto (21) was reported to have drowned in the Jatiluhur Reservoir, Purwakarta Regency, West Java. A joint SAR team discovered Riyanto’s body floating with his hands handcuffed after a seven-day search.
Head of the Bandung SAR Office, Ade Dian Permana, stated that information regarding the discovery was received by the Bandung Search and Rescue Office Basarnas and the joint SAR team on Wednesday (22/7/2026) at 22.27 WIB. “After receiving the information about the discovery of the body, the joint SAR team immediately moved to the location, which was approximately 100 metres from the incident site. The victim was then evacuated on Thursday, 23 July 2026, at 00.10 WIB,” he said in a statement received in Bandung on Thursday.
Following the successful evacuation, the victim was taken to Bayu Asih Regional General Hospital in Purwakarta for identification. “Based on the examination results, the family confirmed that the body was that of Riyanto, who had previously been reported missing,” he said.
The victim was subsequently handed over to the family to be taken to the funeral home in Karangmulya Hamlet, RT 01/05, Blanakan Village, Blanakan District, Subang Regency. He explained that the search operation involved 71 personnel from various agencies, including Basarnas, Purwakarta Water and Air Police, the West Java Police Mobile Brigade, Purwakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency, Subang Regional Disaster Management Agency, Purwakarta Fire Department, and several volunteer SAR organisations.
During the search operation, the joint SAR team deployed various facilities and equipment, such as LCRs, River Boats, Rescue Carriers, operational vehicles, communication equipment, and personnel safety gear. “With the discovery of the victim, the SAR operation is declared complete and all involved elements are returned to their respective units,” he said.
