PURWOREJO, KOMPAS.com – The southern coastal area of Purworejo Regency is once again offering an attractive and affordable tourist destination.

One of these is Jatikontal Beach, located in Jatikontal Village, Purwodadi District, Purworejo Regency, Central Java. This beach has become known to the public for its unspoiled natural scenery and the fact that it does not charge an entrance fee for visitors.

Visitors can enjoy the expanse of black sand typical of southern beaches, the sound of the waves, and the sea breeze without having to pay an entrance fee.

“The entrance is free, there is no gate, I asked the stall owner here and there is indeed no ticket,” said Bagus, a tourist, on Friday (15/5/2026).

The location of Jatikontal Beach is easily accessible by two-wheeled or four-wheeled vehicles. From the main Daendels road in Purworejo, visitors only need to follow the access road to the coastal area of Jatikontal Village.

“The road is quite smooth, it’s quite good. Just follow the directions,” said Bagus.

The road to the beach is mostly passable and comfortable for vehicles.

The presence of Jatikontal Beach is an affordable tourist alternative for local residents and tourists from outside the area who want to enjoy the beach atmosphere without having to pay an entrance fee.

Many visitors come with their families to relax, enjoy the sunset, or simply enjoy the evening atmosphere on the beach. Typical beach food such as shrimp, seafood, and squid are also available at stalls near the beach.

In addition to offering free tourism, the Jatikontal Beach area also has a natural atmosphere that is well-preserved. Around the beach, there are still areas of coastal vegetation and open land, making the atmosphere feel more natural.

Visitors can also see the activities of local fishermen who sail around the coastal area.

On weekends, the number of visitors usually increases compared to weekdays. Many residents from Purworejo and surrounding areas such as Kebumen and Kulon Progo come to enjoy the beach atmosphere.

“Here you can see the sunset, so it’s a good place to come, we can also see planes that are about to land or have taken off from YIA airport,” said Miftah.
