Jakarta (ANTARA) — State-owned insurer PT Asuransi Jasa Indonesia (Persero), known as Asuransi Jasindo, is providing cover this year for 20,838 state-owned assets, with a total insured value of Rp29.19 trillion.

The protection is provided through the State-Owned Assets Insurance programme (ABMN), using the Disaster Pooling Fund (PFB) scheme and supported by the SIMBA application, an innovation by Asuransi Jasindo for managing protection of state assets.

“We want to ensure that every protection policy delivers tangible benefits—not only when a risk occurs, but also by helping the government safeguard its assets and maintain public services over the long term,” Asuransi Jasindo Operations Director Ocke Kurniandi said in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Ocke said state risk management, particularly for assets of strategic value and function, requires a comprehensive understanding of risks. This calls for a risk-management approach that goes beyond transferring risk through insurance.

“As chair of the State-Owned Assets Insurance Consortium (KABMN), we believe protection for state-owned assets should be treated as part of the management of state-asset risks,” Ocke said.

He added that protection should not be determined solely by the number of insured assets, but should take account of their characteristics, value, risk levels and the impact on the continuity of their functions, including public services.

According to Ocke, this approach enables more comprehensive risk management, from identifying and assessing risks to mitigation, insurance cover and recovery when a risk occurs.

Insurance can therefore form part of a broader risk-management strategy, while strengthening Asuransi Jasindo and KABMN’s role as risk-management partners to the government.

In 2025, Asuransi Jasindo and KABMN paid claims for assets belonging to the Ministry of Religious Affairs that were affected by disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.

The company said the payments formed part of the implementation of the ABMN-PFB scheme and supported the accelerated recovery of disaster-affected assets.

Ocke said stronger protection for state-owned assets should be pursued prudently, taking into account financial capacity and reinsurance support, adequate risk mapping, and underwriting processes suited to each asset’s risk profile.

Expanding cover cannot be achieved by the insurance industry alone. It requires cooperation between the government, ministries and agencies, the insurance and reinsurance industries, and regulators.

“From the industry’s perspective, we are ready to support stronger protection for state-owned assets while upholding prudential principles. Strengthening consortium capacity, risk mapping and risk-management partnerships are important to ensure that cover remains sustainable,” Ocke said.

Asuransi Jasindo and KABMN said they would continue to strengthen collaboration with the government and other relevant stakeholders to promote more measured risk management for state-owned assets.

For Asuransi Jasindo, stronger protection for state-owned assets is part of the insurance industry’s contribution to building resilience in the country’s assets and ensuring that those serving strategic public functions can continue to do so when exposed to various risks.
