Medan (ANTARA) - Representative Office 1 of Jasamarga Nusantara Tollroad (JNT) has taken action against 32 Over Dimension Over Loading (ODOL) vehicles on the Belawan-Medan-Tanjung Morawa (Belmera) toll road, specifically at the Belawan Toll Gate. Senior Manager of Representative Office 1, Jasamarga Nusantara Tollroad, Ahmad Fikri, stated that the 32 vehicles apprehended consisted of various loads. “Container-loaded vehicles were the most commonly apprehended, with 23 vehicles,” said Ahmad Fikri in an official statement received in Medan, North Sumatra, on Saturday. He explained that the activity, aimed at creating a sense of safety and comfort on the toll road, also apprehended five cement-loaded vehicles, three coal-loaded vehicles, and one fertiliser-loaded vehicle. “Vehicles meeting the criteria of excess dimensions and overload are given sympathetic sanctions in the form of written warnings and the attachment of ODOL stickers as markers to facilitate monitoring by officers,” he said. Ahmad stated that vehicles with excess dimensions are not permitted as they pose significant dangers to themselves and other vehicles. Furthermore, he added, excessive loads and non-standard vehicle dimensions can accelerate road degradation and create accident risks. “By conducting this enforcement operation, it is hoped that owners of large vehicles will become more aware and comply with the established standards,” he remarked. He emphasised that the company always urges goods transport drivers to check their vehicle conditions before travelling. His side also requests goods transport drivers not to modify dimensions and to ensure that vehicle loads do not exceed the permitted capacity. “We appreciate the support from all involved parties. In the future, we will continue to consistently carry out similar activities to maintain infrastructure performance and ensure road user safety. ODOL vehicles will be dealt with in accordance with applicable regulations,” he stated.
