PT Jasamarga Kualanamu Tol (JKT) has ensured that traffic on the Medan-Kualanamu-Tebing Tinggi (MKTT) toll road has returned to normal following a car accident at Kilometre 71+700 towards Tebing Tinggi on Saturday (1/8).

The President Director of PT Jasa Marga Kualanamu Tol for the Medan-Kualanamu-Tebing Tinggi section, Thomas Dwiatmanto, stated that the handling of the accident was completed in coordination with relevant stakeholders. “The handling was successfully completed on the same day, and traffic is now flowing smoothly,” Thomas said in an official statement received in Medan, North Sumatra, on Sunday.

He noted that the toll road did not experience long queues during the handling process, and no traffic diversions were implemented. Personnel, alongside relevant authorities, conducted site security, installed safety signage, recorded the incident, coordinated with the MKTT security unit (SENKOM Penara), provided assistance to victims, and cleared the accident site.

According to reports, the accident involved a Class I vehicle travelling from Medan towards Tebing Tinggi. The incident occurred when the driver allegedly failed to anticipate traffic conditions, resulting in a collision with a container truck travelling in lane 1. As a result of the impact, the passenger vehicle came to a halt in lane 2, while the container truck stopped on the shoulder with part of its body remaining in lane 1.

Seven people, including the driver and passengers of the vehicle, sustained injuries. All victims were evacuated by officers to Sultan Sulaiman Hospital for further medical examination and treatment. The Class I vehicle sustained heavy damage to its front section, while the container truck suffered minor damage to its rear.

Further investigation into the matter has been handed over to the Serdang Bedagai Police Accident Unit for processing in accordance with applicable regulations. PT Jasamarga Kualanamu Tol has urged all road users to maintain concentration while driving, anticipate traffic conditions, maintain a safe distance, and adhere to speed limits to ensure safe and comfortable journeys on the toll road.
