Jasa Raharja: Fatal accident rate in 2026 Eid transport drops
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jasa Raharja recorded a 28 percent decrease in traffic accidents resulting in fatalities or deaths during the 2026 Eid transport alert period compared to 2025.
“This year (the number of fatalities) is 228 recorded up to last night on Tuesday (24/3), and if we compare it to last year which was 318 (fatalities),” said Jasa Raharja President Director Muhammad Awaluddin while inspecting the Eid return flow at the Jasa Marga Tol Road Command Centre in Jatiasih, Bekasi, on Wednesday.
Awaluddin stated that Jasa Raharja continues to focus on reducing traffic fatality rates.
Based on traffic accident records during the 2026 Eid transport alert period, continued Awaluddin, cases of traffic accidents causing fatalities mostly occurred among users of two-wheeled motor vehicles, with the dominant causes being driver fatigue.
“Various causes of these incidents include fatigue driving or exhaustion from the driver, journey distances that are quite long, over approximately six to seven hours of travel, and the condition of the motor vehicle,” he said.
Furthermore, he conveyed that his side will continue to monitor safety and smoothness during the Eid transport alert period until it ends, hoping that the journeys proceed safely, comfortably, orderly, and everyone returns safely.
Regarding the fatalities, Jasa Raharja has provided compensation to 224 families of victims and heirs from the 228 recorded fatalities up to Tuesday (24/3), with a total compensation of Rp11.2 billion.
Previously, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, after conducting monitoring of Eid Takbiran night security at the Integrated Post in Merdeka Field of the Medan Police Station, North Sumatra, on Friday (20/3), revealed that the number of traffic accidents decreased by 3.23 percent during the 2026 Eid homecoming flow.
Meanwhile, the fatality rate or number of deaths also experienced a 24.61 percent decrease compared to Operation Ketupat 2025.
