Jasa Raharja and PMI Forge Collaboration to Build National Accident Emergency Response Ecosystem
PT Jasa Raharja and the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) are exploring synergy to improve traffic safety and victim handling through the development of a more integrated emergency response system. The commitment was discussed during a meeting at the Jasa Raharja Akhlak Meeting Room in Jakarta on Thursday (9/7/2026).
The meeting was attended by PT Jasa Raharja President Director Muhammad Awaluddin and PMI Central Board Head of Health and Social Affairs Fachmi Idris, along with their respective teams. Both parties discussed a number of strategic collaboration opportunities to be realised through concrete programmes.
Awaluddin stated that the partnership with PMI is a strategic step to strengthen the road safety ecosystem. He noted that services would not only focus on providing compensation to accident victims but also on the critical first minutes after an incident occurs. “Today we discussed extensively how the collaboration between PMI and Jasa Raharja can be immediately realised in the form of real action programmes. Several matters have been agreed upon for immediate follow-up,” Awaluddin said.
One of the main agendas agreed upon is the development of a concept that will involve various stakeholders, including the public, to provide fast and accurate first aid to victims before further medical treatment is available. The two institutions also agreed to push for the strengthening of emergency system integration, particularly in handling traffic accident victims. Under this concept, PMI will reinforce the ecosystem already built by Jasa Raharja through its network of volunteer resources, victim evacuation capabilities, and the utilisation of PMI ambulances spread across various regions in Indonesia.
“We also discussed the establishment of a pilot project in several areas with relatively high accident rates. The availability of PMI ambulances and its service network is expected to serve as a model for emergency response integration that can later be replicated in other regions,” Awaluddin added.
Fachmi Idris welcomed the initiative, stating that the collaboration combines road safety education with rapid response capabilities. He emphasised the importance of massive public education on road safety to reduce accident potential, while ensuring that when accidents do occur, victims receive immediate assistance through PMI’s extensive network reaching down to the village level.
“We see that what Jasa Raharja has done is far more advanced than we imagined. Therefore, we are enthusiastic and optimistic that this collaboration will provide mutually reinforcing benefits for both institutions, while delivering tangible benefits to the community,” Fachmi said.
As a follow-up to the meeting, Jasa Raharja continued discussions with the PMI Central Board at PMI Headquarters to finalise the draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Cooperation Agreement on Monday (13/07/2026). The discussions focused on sharpening the scope of collaboration, including strengthening emergency services for accident victims, road safety education and public compliance with motor vehicle administration, human resource capacity and competency development, and strengthening preparedness and humanitarian action, as well as data governance and protection. The meeting was also reviewed by PMI Chairman Jusuf Kalla, who welcomed the cooperation initiative between Jasa Raharja and PMI.
The collaboration between Jasa Raharja and PMI is expected not only to strengthen the speed of response to accident victims but also to expand road safety education and compliance with motor vehicle administration through PMI’s volunteer network spread across Indonesia.
