Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk has urged holidaymakers to comply with the rules during the implementation of one-way and contraflow traffic engineering measures.

Jasa Marga President Director Rivan A. Purwantono stated that the company has prepared various facilities and preparations to support the safety of road users during the application of these traffic engineering measures.

“We have deployed traffic control officers at several strategic points and provided Road Patrol Vehicle (PJR) escorts as safety cars to ensure that speeds in the contraflow lane remain in accordance with the provisions, namely 40 km/h,” Rivan said in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He explained that traffic volume during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah return flow period has experienced a significant increase. To anticipate congestion due to the surge in vehicles, traffic engineering in the form of national one-way lanes and contraflow is implemented at the discretion of the Indonesian National Police.

This policy is carried out to optimise toll road capacity while maintaining the smoothness, security, and comfort of the journey.

As part of operational support, Jasa Marga has installed two-sided reflectors on median barriers and placed sign packages at entry points and every 2.5 kilometres along the route.

These preparations include two-way traffic warnings, a maximum speed limit of 40 km/h, no overtaking, warning lights, and emphasis that the contraflow lane is only for small vehicles.

Rivan emphasised that discipline among road users is the main key to maintaining safety while traversing contraflow or one-way lanes.

“In the contraflow lane or one-way route, we ask road users to avoid stopping on the roadside except in emergencies, no lane changing, no sudden lane changes, and to comply with speed limits,” Rivan said.

“If experiencing an emergency, please do not use the right shoulder, but use the inner/left shoulder. Especially in the contraflow lane, do not cross to the opposite direction to stop on the right shoulder,” he added.

For quick assistance, road users can contact Jasa Marga’s call centre at 133. The latest toll road traffic information is also available through the Travoy application.

“Therefore, we hope for the cooperation of road users to comply with the rules while traversing one-way or contraflow lanes, including maintaining speed, following the directions of on-site officers, and staying in their lane for collective safety,” Rivan concluded.

These regulations are based on the Joint Decree (SKB) regarding traffic arrangements during the Lebaran transport period.

Under these provisions, police discretion can be applied situationally to adjust traffic management while prioritising safety aspects.

“Jasa Marga reminds road users to check the time and route of the dynamic traffic engineering implementation from the police,” Rivan stated.
