PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk has recorded the highest vehicle volume in the history of Indonesia’s Eid exodus. This record occurred during the peak of the exodus on Wednesday (18/3).

Jasa Marga’s President Director, Rivan A. Purwantono, stated that the peak mudik traffic volume served by Jasa Marga reached 270,315 vehicles. This figure represents a 98.3% increase from normal conditions and a 4.6% rise from the 2025 Eid mudik peak.

The figure is the cumulative traffic flow from four toll gates: Cikupa GT (westbound), Ciawi GT (southbound), and Cikampek GT and Kalihurip Utama GT (eastbound).

“Not only exiting through the four main toll gates. We also recorded the highest peak in serving traffic flow to the Trans Java Toll Road to date, reaching 175,754 vehicles. This is a 6% increase compared to last year’s mudik peak,” said Rivan in a written statement on Friday (20/3).

Rivan explained that although the number of vehicles passing through Jasa Marga Group’s toll roads reached a record high, traffic conditions were well-controlled due to effective traffic engineering in alleviating congestion.

“Traffic congestion was monitored on the MBZ Elevated Road and the lower Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road. To anticipate the surge in vehicle volume, Jasa Marga, together with the Police, has implemented traffic engineering in the form of contraflow from one lane to three lanes, up to the implementation of a national one-way system from KM 70 to KM 414,” he stated.

“The vehicle volume passing through both sections was recorded as the highest in the history of their operation,” he added.

Rivan noted that according to the prepared traffic engineering scenario, congestion is targeted to be maximally cleared within 1x12 hours. On Thursday (19/3) at 11:00 WIB, traffic conditions were reported to have returned to smooth with average vehicle speeds back to normal.

“Jasa Marga will continue to optimise the use of technology as a decision support system that supports traffic engineering decisions determined by the Police based on the latest field conditions,” he said.

Furthermore, Rivan advised the public to plan their journeys even better by avoiding the peak return flow expected on 24 March 2026 (H+3 Eid).

He also urged the public to take advantage of the toll fee discounts that will be applied during the return flow period from 26 March 2026 at 00:00 WIB until 27 March 2026 at 00:00 WIB.

“As with the mudik flow, Jasa Marga once again urges the public to manage the return departure times to support smooth traffic flow so that the travel experience during the 2026 Eid mudik and return becomes safer and more comfortable,” said Rivan.
