PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk has recorded a new milestone in managing the Eid exodus traffic in Indonesia. On the peak Eid exodus day of Wednesday, 18 March 2026, the volume of traffic handled by this state-owned company reached 270,315 vehicles, the highest ever recorded throughout the operation of toll roads in the country.

Jasa Marga’s President Director, Rivan A. Purwantono, revealed that this figure is the accumulation of vehicles exiting through four main toll gates: Cikupa GT (westbound), Ciawi GT (southbound), and Cikampek Main GT and Kalihurip Main GT (eastbound).

“This figure is up 98.3 percent from normal traffic and increased 4.6 percent compared to the peak exodus of Eid 2025. This is the highest traffic flow in the history of the exodus in Indonesia,” said Rivan in his official statement on Friday, 20 March 2026.

A significant increase also occurred in the traffic flow towards the Trans-Java Toll Road. Jasa Marga recorded 175,754 vehicles heading east, up 6 percent from the previous year’s peak exodus.

Despite the drastic surge in vehicle volume, Rivan claimed that traffic conditions remained under control thanks to the effectiveness of traffic engineering. Contraflow scenarios up to three lanes and the implementation of a national one-way system from KM 70 to KM 414 proved effective in dispersing density at critical points such as the MBZ Flyover and the lower Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road.

“As per the scenario, the density was successfully dispersed maximally within 12 hours. On Thursday afternoon, the average vehicle speed was reported to have returned to normal,” he added.

Facing the return flow period predicted to peak on Tuesday, 24 March 2026, or H+3 Eid, Jasa Marga urged the public to schedule their trips to avoid severe congestion.

As an incentive to break up density, Jasa Marga will implement toll fee discounts during the return flow period, from Thursday, 26 March 2026, at 00:00 WIB until Friday, 27 March 2026, at 00:00 WIB.

“We urge return travellers to plan their return trips earlier. Take advantage of the toll discounts and monitor the latest information through the Travoy application or Jasa Marga’s official channels to ensure safe and comfortable journeys,” Rivan concluded.

In addition, Jasa Marga also reminded drivers of three-axle or more vehicles to continue complying with the Joint Decree (SKB) regarding restrictions on goods vehicle operations during the 2026 Eid transportation period.

Violations against truck operational restrictions exacerbate congestion.
