PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk projects that the peak of the 2026 Eid return flow could occur on Sunday (29/3), with around 250,000 vehicles heading back to Jakarta.

Jasa Marga President Director Rivan A. Purwantono stated that the prediction is based on ongoing monitoring of vehicle movement trends during the return period.

“The provisional prediction aligns with current trends, around 250,000 on the 29th,” said Rivan after inspecting the return flow at the Jasa Marga Toll Road Command Centre (JMTC) in Bekasi on Wednesday, 25 March 2026.

He explained that Jasa Marga had previously estimated a surge of up to 285,000 vehicles. However, the distribution of traffic flows is deemed to be becoming more even after the government recorded a daily return peak of 256,338 vehicles on Tuesday (24/3).

To ease the upcoming homecoming waves, the government urges the public to take advantage of the 30 percent toll discount programme, which applies during the return period on 26-27 March 2026.

“Why was the toll discount placed on the 26th and 27th from the start? Because it is to disperse or distribute,” he said.

Rivan added that traffic congestion patterns during the return flow typically occur from afternoon to evening. Therefore, the public is advised to choose the right travel times to avoid being caught in peak congestion.

“Choose the right time, the right conditions, and then listen to the information provided,” he said.

Furthermore, Jasa Marga utilises monitoring technologies such as traffic counting and volume to capacity ratio (V/C ratio) indicators to determine traffic engineering measures, including the dynamic implementation of one-way systems and contraflow.

Rivan noted that the company is continuously strengthening communication with the public so that road users can adjust their travel times, drivers’ physical conditions, and vehicle readiness before returning to Jakarta.

“The important thing, besides vehicle and driver readiness, is also readiness in choosing the departure time or making the journey,” said Rivan.

The company is also evaluating several service points, including rest areas, to support the smooth flow of the return traffic until the end of the Eid holiday period.
