Karawang — Electric vehicle users traversing the Trans Java Toll Road during the homecoming season need no longer worry about charging their vehicles. The toll road operator has ensured that Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) infrastructure is distributed across dozens of rest area points along the main route.

Vice President Corporate Secretary & Legal of PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT) Ria Marlinda Paalo stated that charging facilities for electric vehicles are currently available at several rest area locations totalling hundreds of SPKLU units. According to Ria, the majority of these SPKLU are located at Type A rest areas, which have larger parking capacity and are able to accommodate electric vehicles whilst charging.

“These are all Type A because most have sufficient and considerable parking capacity at Type A for SPKLU,” she said.

In addition to strengthening charging infrastructure, the toll operator has also increased rest facilities for homebound travellers. This year there are two additional functional rest areas, bringing the total rest areas along the Trans Java Toll Road to 42 locations.

“We have two additional functional rest areas that can be utilised, so the total is 42 rest areas,” she said.

“The functional rest areas are located at points that we estimate to be fatigue points for road users, namely at KM 444 and KM 439 on the Semarang–Solo section,” Ria stated.

Although holding functional status, the facilities within are said to be sufficiently complete to serve homebound travellers.

Overall, SPKLU facilities along the Trans Java Toll Road are distributed across various main toll sections, ranging from the Jabodetabek area to East Java. Several are located on the Jakarta–Cikampek Toll, Cipularang Toll, Batang–Semarang Toll, Semarang–Solo Toll, and toll sections in East Java such as the Surabaya–Mojokerto Toll and Gempol–Pasuruan Toll.

The capacity of available SPKLU also varies, from AC chargers of 7.4 kW to 22 kW, and DC fast charging from 50 kW to 200 kW.
