Jasa Marga Predicts Peak Homeward Traffic on 29 March Reaching 250,000 Vehicles
PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk predicts the peak of Lebaran 2026 homeward traffic could occur on Sunday (29/3) with a vehicle volume of around 250,000 units. Jasa Marga President Director Rivan A. Purwantono stated that the prediction is based on trends in vehicle movements continuously monitored during the homeward period. “The interim prediction according to current trends is around 250,000 on the 29th,” said Rivan after inspecting the homeward traffic at the Jasa Marga Toll Road Command Center (JMTC) in Bekasi on Wednesday. He explained that Jasa Marga had previously estimated a surge of up to 285,000 vehicles. However, the distribution of traffic is deemed to be becoming more even after the government recorded a daily homeward peak of 256,338 vehicles on Tuesday (24/3). “Why were the toll discounts placed on the 26th and 27th from the start? Because that is to disperse or distribute,” he said. Rivan added that the pattern of traffic density during homeward flows generally occurs from afternoon to evening. Therefore, the public is advised to choose the right travel time to avoid getting stuck in density during the homeward peak. Furthermore, Jasa Marga utilises monitoring technologies such as traffic counting and volume to capacity ratio (V/C ratio) indicators to determine traffic engineering, including the dynamic implementation of one-way systems and contraflow. Rivan stated that they continue to strengthen communication to the public so that road users can adjust travel times, driver physical condition, and vehicle readiness before returning to Jakarta. “Importantly, besides vehicle and driver readiness, readiness in choosing departure time or travel is also important,” said Rivan.
