Jasa Marga Plants Thousands of Trees Along Toll Roads and Rest Areas, Here's Why

PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk, together with all its subsidiaries, is planting trees simultaneously across its entire operational area throughout June 2026 as a tangible action to commemorate World Environment Day. A ceremonial event was held at the Travoy Rest KM 792A on the Gempol-Pasuruan Toll Road in East Java on Wednesday, 24 June 2026.

The company is leveraging the momentum of World Environment Day 2026 to strengthen sustainable toll road infrastructure development through its Green Toll Road programme, Green Corridor initiative, and the transformation of rest areas into a green ecosystem for the Jasa Marga Group.

Jasa Marga President Director Rivan A. Purwantono stated that the company’s commitment to implementing sustainability principles is realised through various initiatives, including the development of green toll roads, environmentally friendly rest area management, and regular tree planting programmes. “Planting trees is part of a long-term investment to create a better life in the future,” Rivan said. “All these initiatives are part of Jasa Marga’s efforts to create added value for the community, the environment, and relevant stakeholders in a sustainable manner.”

During the programme at Travoy Rest KM 792A, 200 ‘pule’ trees were planted. The pule tree was selected for its strong carbon absorption and oxygen production capabilities, minimal leaf litter which eases maintenance, and a robust, deep root system. This action marks the integration of greening efforts along toll road corridors with the enhancement of service facilities. Rivan added that the greening programme delivers measurable benefits, including improved air quality, increased green open spaces, and better water absorption, serving as concrete evidence of the company’s ESG implementation.
