JAKARTA — A multiple-vehicle collision occurred at KM 80+400 on the Cipularang Toll Road heading towards Bandung on Saturday, 14 March 2026 at approximately 19:20 Western Indonesia Time.

The incident allegedly involved two pickup truck units. Fortunately, there were no fatalities or injuries reported in the incident.

Based on field officer accounts, the first pickup truck was travelling from Jakarta towards Bandung. Upon arriving at the incident location, the vehicle sustained damage in the form of a broken right rear axle. Shortly thereafter, the second pickup truck behind it allegedly failed to anticipate the situation ahead and collided with the rear of the first vehicle.

“We can confirm there were no potholes at the incident location,” said Widiyatmiko in an official statement on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.

Based on the results of the police investigation into the collision, Widiyatmiko stated that police determined the cause of the accident was the truck’s broken axle condition.

“Therefore, we are clarifying that the factor of the accident caused by potholes is incorrect,” he added.

Earlier, a multiple-vehicle collision involving four vehicles occurred on the Cipularang Toll Road in the Purwakarta area on Saturday, 14 March 2026 evening.

The incident caused a load of vegetables and fruit to scatter across the road, triggering congestion extending approximately two kilometres. The incident occurred at Kilometre 80A on the lane from Jakarta towards Bandung. The collision began when a pickup truck carrying pumpkins and bananas experienced a broken rear axle after passing over a pothole-ridden section of road.

The vehicle then lost control and collided with the vehicle behind it, triggering a chain-reaction collision. In the incident, two trucks involved reportedly left the location.

As a result of the incident, the driver and assistant driver sustained minor injuries. After the vehicle evacuation process and cargo cleanup were completed, traffic flow that had been disrupted eventually returned to normal.
