PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk, together with all its subsidiaries, held a simultaneous tree planting event across its entire operational area throughout June 2026. This action serves as a tangible commemoration of World Environment Day 2026. A ceremonial event was held at Travoy Rest KM 792A on the Gempol-Pasuruan Toll Road, East Java, on Wednesday (24/6). The momentum of World Environment Day 2026 was optimised to strengthen sustainable toll road infrastructure development through the development of Green Toll Roads, the Green Corridor programme, and the transformation of rest area areas as part of the Jasa Marga Group’s green ecosystem. Jasa Marga President Director Rivan A. Purwantono stated that the company’s efforts to apply sustainability principles are realised through various initiatives, including the development of green toll roads, more environmentally friendly rest area management, and routine tree planting programmes. ‘Planting trees is part of a long-term investment to create a better life in the future. All these initiatives are part of Jasa Marga’s efforts to create added value for the community, the environment, and related stakeholders in a sustainable manner,’ Rivan said in his statement on Thursday (25/6/2026). In the programme carried out at Travoy Rest KM 792A, 200 pule trees were planted in the rest area. The pule tree was chosen for its good carbon absorption and oxygen production capabilities, relatively minimal leaf litter making maintenance easier, and a strong, deep root system. This action is part of a programme to plant more than 7,000 trees to commemorate World Environment Day 2026 across various toll road sections and rest areas of the Jasa Marga Group, marking the integration of toll road corridor greening and service facility arrangement. ‘The greening programme has measurable benefits, including ecological benefits such as improved air quality, increased green open spaces, enhanced water absorption, and the ability to provide more accurate environmental impact measurements as tangible evidence of the company’s ESG implementation,’ Rivan added. In 2026, Jasa Marga began introducing a digital monitoring system capable of measuring carbon footprint, periodically monitoring tree growth, and calculating potential carbon offset. This collaboration forms the foundation for the development of the Green Corridor, which will be implemented in stages across all Jasa Marga Group tree planting locations. Jasa Marga has consistently realised sustainable greening programmes every year. The company planted 14,267 trees in 2023, 50,762 trees in 2024, and 31,130 trees in 2025. Jasa Marga is committed to increasing this number each year, both on toll road areas and in rest areas. ‘In addition to strengthening the green corridor along the toll roads, Jasa Marga is also continuously transforming rest area areas into more modern, comfortable, and economically valuable public spaces. The Travoy Rest revitalisation integrates service aspects, MSME empowerment, and environmental sustainability. This revitalisation is also part of the Green Toll Road development, which not only improves service quality for toll road users but also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),’ Rivan said. The concrete steps for the Travoy Rest rejuvenation are realised through the arrangement of MSME tenant facades, updating signage and area landscapes, improving the quality of public facilities such as toilets and seating areas, and strengthening the competence of frontliner officers. Travoy Rest is also equipped with various facilities such as retail areas, better organised parking areas, public fuel filling stations (SPBU), public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU), an ATM centre, a health clinic, green open spaces, comfortable places of worship, restaurants, and an open saung design equipped with clean toilet facilities. The transformation of Travoy Rest is part of the company’s strategy to optimise assets through customer experience-based area development while supporting the increase in the company’s other business revenues. The contribution of the company’s rest area business to other revenues continues to show a positive trend. In 2025, the company recorded other revenues from rest areas of IDR 783.2 billion, growing 21.7% compared to 2024’s figure of IDR 643.6 billion. Furthermore, all initiatives undertaken are also in line with Danantara Indonesia’s mission to build State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) that continuously create sustainable value for society. Jasa Marga is committed to continuously increasing added value by optimising productive assets that can provide economic, social, and environmental sustainability impacts while prioritising customer needs.
