Jasa Marga Claims Toll Rate Discount Strategy Effectively Eases 2026 Mudik Congestion
PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk has recorded positive progress in efforts to ease traffic congestion ahead of Lebaran 2026. The implementation of a 30% toll rate discount for continuous routes from Cikampek Utama toll gate to Kalikangkung toll gate has proven effective in encouraging the public to travel earlier, thereby reducing the volume burden on vehicles during the predicted peak period of the mudik exodus on 18 March 2026.
Vice President Corporate Secretary & Legal of PT Jasa Marga Transjawa Tol, Ria Marlinda Paalo, explained that this policy is part of a traffic management scheme. With the tariff incentive, vehicle loads are not concentrated at a single time.
“This is indeed our traffic management strategy to inform all road users so they can choose discounted toll periods to ease the expected congestion during the peak mudik period,” said Ria in Karawang on Sunday (15 March).
The success of this strategy is evident from the surge in vehicle volume crossing Cikampek Utama toll gate before entering the peak period. Based on Jasa Marga data, vehicle flow on 15 March 2026 reached a significant figure.
“We have recorded 60,000 vehicles as of 15 March 2026, across all three shifts. This demonstrates that road users are already showing good enthusiasm in taking advantage of the toll rate discount,” Ria added.
Jasa Marga implemented this toll rate discount on 15-16 March 2026. Besides the 30% reduction for continuous travel to Kalikangkung toll gate, a similar policy was also applied to the Batang-Semarang section. On that route, road users travelling continuously through Kalikangkung toll gate received a larger rate reduction of approximately 46 per cent.
To ensure smooth operational continuity, Jasa Marga took anticipatory measures by increasing transaction service capacity. At Cikampek Utama toll gate located in Karawang District, West Java, the number of operating toll booths has been increased.
“Cikampek Utama toll gate, which normally operates 15 booths, has now been increased to 19 booths focused on serving vehicles from Jakarta heading east on the Trans-Java route,” Ria explained.
Through the addition of facilities and tariff incentives, Jasa Marga hopes the Lebaran mudik process this year will proceed more smoothly, safely, and comfortably for all toll road users, particularly those heading towards the Trans-Java direction.
