PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk has disclosed information about several congestion hotspots on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road (Japek) during the 2026 Eid holiday peak travel period.

Jasa Marga Chief Executive Officer Rivan Achmad Purwantono said that on the Japek toll, kilometre 66 represents a congestion risk point because it is the junction between the Cikopo-Palimanan toll (Cipali) and the Cipularang toll.

“Traffic congestion potential could occur at KM 66, driven by a very high volume of vehicles, where 57% are heading towards Trans Java and 42% towards Cipularang,” Rivan said during a media briefing on Tuesday (10 March 2026).

Additionally, the rest area at kilometre 57 is expected to become the busiest rest facility because vehicles from the Japek Elevated/MBZ toll can only stop for rest at this location.

“The rest area at KM 57 has the potential to become the most crowded rest area and also could cause traffic congestion due to queues entering the rest area,” he continued.

In response, the company has prepared various measures, with Jasa Marga setting up rest area at kilometre 72 as an alternative if the rest area at KM 57 becomes full.

“We have prepared an alternative at KM 72, if the rest area at KM 57 is already full,” he said.

When a rest area reaches capacity, the company will close it and information about the closure will be visible two kilometres before the rest area location.

“Once KM 57 is full, it must be closed. That is why we must add alternatives, so that after KM 57 there is KM 72A. So there is an addition. If KM 57 is closed, that cannot only be from the rest area entrance, but we have prepared signage two kilometres before the rest area,” he explained.

In addition to preparing alternative rest areas located near the full rest area, Jasa Marga is also arranging rest areas outside the toll road.

Rivan urged toll users not to worry about using alternative rest areas outside the toll, as users will not need to pay when re-entering the toll.

“We have also prepared alternative rest areas outside the toll, so people can exit the toll if they cannot find a rest area inside, and then re-enter without any toll tariff changes, so people do not need to worry that additional costs will appear or anything like that, just exit and re-enter,” he explained.
