Marking the momentum of World Environment Day 2wide 2026, PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk has demonstrated its active role in supporting the government’s strategic programme for climate change mitigation. This move aligns with Indonesia’s national targets for reducing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions. As the largest toll road developer and operator in Indonesia, Jasa Marga is integrating environmentally conscious policies into all its operational activities.

Jasa Marga’s contributions are manifested concretely through extreme weather monitoring and early warning systems, the strengthening of disaster-resilient infrastructure, the provision of green open spaces, and the use of heat-resistant road materials. Furthermore, the company is extensively managing water conservation, optimising the use of electric vehicles for operational purposes, utilising solar panels, and reducing fuel consumption to achieve sustainable carbon emission reductions.

Jasa Marga President Director, Rivan A. Purwantono, explained that the foundation of all environmental movements undertaken by Jasa Marga is strengthened through the development of a ‘Net Zero Emission’ (NZE) Roadmap. Through this roadmap, Jasa Marga has calculated baseline emissions and developed long-term NZE scenarios to serve as a standard reference for achieving the company’s internal emission targets.

“The preparation of the NZE Roadmap is a manifestation of Jasa Marga’s commitment to playing an active role in the national effort to face the global climate crisis. We strive to ensure that every step of the company’s operational expansion is aligned with global objectives,” said Rivan in a statement on Saturday (6/6/2026).

He added, “This also serves as a means for the Jasa Marga Group to increase transparency and accountability regarding environmental governance to the public. We believe that providing safe, comfortable, and secure toll road services must go hand in hand with the commitment to protecting the Earth’s ecosystem.”

Jasa Marga’s commitment to climate action is also reflected in its tangible actions throughout 2025. As part of carbon offsetting efforts, Jasa Marga Group planted 31,130 trees across various operational areas. To ensure programme sustainability, these efforts will be consistently maintained with intensified actions planned for 2026.

These environmental standard compliance measures have led to the expansion of ‘Green Toll Road Indonesia’ certifications, now totalling four toll roads: Bali Mandara, Kunciran-Serpong, Gempol-Pandaan, and Pandaan-Malang. This achievement reflects compliance with high-quality Minimum Service Standards (SPM) through functional infrastructure transformation and serves as a catalyst for environmental restoration in accordance with Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) regulations.

In addition to green toll road certifications, Jasa Marga received recognition from the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI) as a pioneer in installing ‘Hybrid Wind Tree’ turbines on the Probolinggo-Situbondo-Banyuwangi (Prosiwangi) Toll Road. These wind turbines, designed in the shape of trees and integrated with solar panels, are the first of their kind on an Indonesian toll road, optimising wind and solar energy to support facility operations.

Rivan added that Jasa Marga’s support for the green energy transition extends beyond its internal operations. The company is committed to building and preparing a supporting ecosystem accessible to the wider public.

“As a concrete contribution to supporting the public’s transition to clean energy, Jasa Network is accelerating the provision of electric vehicle infrastructure along Jasa Marga Group’s toll road corridors. We have massively increased the number of EV charging stations (SPKLU), which now feature 144 service points across Jasa Marga Group rest areas. This aligns with our internal policies, such as the initiative to use electric vehicles for the company’s official fleet to reduce emissions,” Rivan added.

Furthermore, Rivan stated that climate crisis awareness is now deeply embedded across all business lines of the Jasa Marga Group. “We fully realise that providing toll road infrastructure that supports national economic growth brings the consequence of increased emissions from vehicle users. Recognising this, climate change mitigation has been integrated as a collective responsibility of all Jasa Marga personnel under the direct coordination of the Sustainability Committee.”

Due to its commitment to sustainable operations, Jasa Marga has secured several national and regional awards. The company received the Indonesia Green Awards (IGA) 2026 for ‘Integrated Waste Management Development’ at the Travoy Rest Area KM 88B on the Cipularang Toll Road. Jasa Marga also achieved a Gold Rank for its 2024 Sustainability Report at the 2025 Asia Sustainability Report Rating (ASRRAT).

Additionally, Jasa Marga won three awards at the 2026 Top CSR Awards, including a Golden Trophy in Batch Trophy I, a Top CSR Awards 2026 #Star 5 (Corporate Level), and an award for Top Leader on CSR Commitment 2026, presented to Jasa Marga’s Director of Human Capital and Transformation, Yoga Tri Anggoro, for his commitment to advancing the company’s CSR and ESG ecosystem.
