JAKARTA - PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk recorded the highest traffic flow in the history of Indonesia’s homecoming period. According to Jasa Marga President Director Rivan A. Purwanto, the record occurred on 18 March 2026. The peak homecoming traffic volume served reached 270,315 vehicles, a 98.3 per cent increase compared to normal conditions and a 4.6 per cent rise from the 2025 Lebaran homecoming peak. This figure represents the cumulative traffic flow from four main toll gates: Cikupa (westbound), Ciawi (southbound), and Cikampek Utama and Kalihurip Utama (eastbound). “Not only those exiting through the four main toll gates, we also recorded the highest volume in serving traffic heading to the Trans-Java Toll Road, reaching 175,754 vehicles. This number is up 6 per cent from last year’s homecoming peak,” said Rivan on Friday (20/3/2026). “Traffic density was observed on the MBZ Elevated Road and the lower Jakarta–Cikampek Toll Road. To anticipate the surge in vehicle volume, Jasa Marga, together with the police, implemented traffic engineering in the form of contraflow from one lane to three lanes, up to the application of a national one-way system on KM 70–KM 414. The volume of vehicles passing through both sections was recorded as the highest in their operational history,” he added. Rivan explained that, in line with the prepared traffic engineering scenario, the density is targeted to be resolved maximally within 1x12 hours. “Jasa Marga will continue to optimise the use of technology as a decision support system to support traffic engineering decisions by the police according to the latest field conditions,” he said.
