Jared Kushner Meets Netanyahu to Discuss Gaza Peace Plan
Jared Kushner, the special envoy and son-in-law of United States President Donald Trump, is scheduled to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss the continuation of the peace plan in the Gaza Strip. The meeting aims to press Israeli authorities to promptly implement the next stage of the 20-point proposal put forward by Trump.
The Jerusalem Post reported on Monday that Kushner will not be attending alone. He will be accompanied by former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and the high representative of the Peace Board for Gaza, Nickolay Mladenov. The main focus of the talks in Jerusalem is the total demilitarisation of the Gaza Strip to ensure that Hamas no longer holds power.
The main agenda of the meeting includes 15 specific points concerning the disarmament of Hamas. In addition, the envoys will discuss the mechanism for deploying an International Stabilisation Force in Gaza to maintain security during the transitional period of governance in the territory.
Previously, on Sunday (16/8), Kushner was reported to have held intensive talks with Hamas leaders in Egypt. He also met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi in El Alamein to align the implementation steps of the peace plan initiated by Washington.
This peace process is a continuation of the first-phase agreement reached on 9 October 2025. At that time, Israel and Hamas, with mediation from Egypt, Qatar, the US, and Turkey, agreed to begin a ceasefire. In the initial implementation, Israeli forces withdrew to the ‘Yellow Line’ position, although they currently still control more than 50 percent of the Gaza Strip.
The Peace Board confirmed at the end of July that Hamas had agreed to a roadmap for the subsequent phases. The plan includes the gradual transfer of administrative control to the National Committee for Gaza Administration.
In addition to the transfer of power, the agreement also mandates the establishment of a special independent body. This body is tasked with monitoring and reporting any ceasefire violations committed by Hamas or the Israeli military on the ground.
