JAPFA meets Bali Jeff in league final

JAKARTA (JP): JAPFA chess team will face Bali Jeff on
Wednesday in the final of the Indonesian Chess League 2000 at the
Novotel, Surabaya.

JAPFA, who hired Grand Master (GM) Alex Wojkiewicz of Poland
and GM Darryl Johansen of Australia for this event, narrowly beat
BTPN from Bandung 2.5-1.5 in the sixth round and outclassed
Jakarta-based Gunadarma 3.5-0.5 in the seventh round to top group
A with 6 Match Points (MP) 21 Victory Points (VP).

While Bali Jeff, who have GM Eugene Torre and GM Rogelio
Antonio Jr. from the Philippines on their books, finished first
in group B with 5 MPs and 17.5 VPs. Bali Jeff beat East Java
men's team 3-1 and Enerpac chess school team 4-0 in the final two
rounds.

BTPN from Bandung, West Java and Jakarta-based BNI '46 will
fight for the third and the fourth place on Wednesday, tournament
spokesman Kristianus Liem said in a press release on Tuesday.
