Japek Toll Road Vehicle Volume Increases, Karawang Police: In Line with Predicted Peak Mudik Flow 2026
Traffic flow on the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) toll road is beginning to show a trend of increasing vehicle volume ahead of the peak mudik flow for 2026. Based on the latest data from the Posko Ops Ketupat Lodaya of Karawang Police on Thursday (19/3/2026), vehicle movements from Jakarta towards Java started to become dense from the morning hours.
Statistical data indicates that the increase occurred gradually in the first three hours of monitoring. From 06:00 to 07:00 WIB, 5,465 vehicles were recorded passing through. This number rose from 07:00 to 08:00 WIB to 5,775 vehicles, and slightly decreased from 08:00 to 09:00 WIB to 5,253 vehicles.
Karawang Police Chief AKBP Fiki N. Ardiansyah emphasised that this fluctuation in vehicle numbers is still within reasonable limits during the peak mudik period of 2026. According to him, the surge is already within the prediction scheme of this year’s mudik route security team.
“The increase in vehicle volume is already in line with our predictions. Currently, traffic flow is still monitored as busy but smooth, but we continue to carry out maximum monitoring and regulation in the field,” said AKBP Fiki N. Ardiansyah in Karawang on Thursday (19/3/2026).
Although traffic conditions remain under control, the police are still deploying personnel at density-prone points, including access to rest areas and convergence points (bottlenecks).
In response to the rising vehicle flow, AKBP Fiki provided special advice to mudik travellers to ensure safe and comfortable journeys until they reach their hometowns.
“We urge drivers to remain orderly in traffic, obey signs and instructions from officers in the field, and prepare all driving equipment well so that the journey is safe and arrives at the destination,” he added.
Karawang Police is committed to continuously improving services and supervision along the mudik routes within its jurisdiction to ensure the smooth flow and safety of all road users during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr mudik period and Operation Ketupat Lodaya 2026.
