Japek Toll KM 66-70 Becomes Most Critical Point During Mudik, Why?
Bekasi — Mudik Lebaran is always synonymous with surging traffic on toll roads, particularly on sections that serve as main connectors for journeys to various regions.
During this year’s mudik season, PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk predicts that one of the most critical points will be located at the KM 66 to KM 70 section of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road. Why is this the case?
Rivan A. Purwantono, Chief Executive Officer of PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk, explained that this location is where vehicle traffic converges from two main directions: towards Bandung and the Trans-Java Toll.
“The meeting point between vehicles heading towards Trans-Java and Bandung, from KM 66 to KM 70, is something we must always anticipate,” Rivan told the Trans-Java 2026 team at the Jasa Marga Toll Road Command Centre (JMTC) on Monday (09/03/2026).
Jasa Marga estimates that vehicle volume during the mudik Lebaran period this year will increase significantly.
Rivan stated that based on calculations from H-10 to H+10 Lebaran, the number of vehicles expected to pass through is predicted to reach 3.5 million units.
“In this prediction, from H-10 to H+10, we estimate 3.5 million vehicles will pass. This means there is growth or an increase of approximately 17 per cent, or 1.8 per cent compared to Lebaran last year and this year,” he said.
Rivan explained that the distribution of eastbound vehicles is divided into two main routes. Fifty-seven per cent of vehicles are heading towards the Trans-Java route, whilst 43 per cent are heading towards Bandung.
Because these two traffic streams meet around KM 66 to KM 70 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, this area has the potential to experience significant congestion if not properly anticipated.
In addition to monitoring vehicle traffic, Jasa Marga is also ensuring the readiness of toll road infrastructure before the mudik period begins.
“As with the trials during Nataru recently, we ensure that 1,294 main sections, these kilometres, are now ready to be deployed. And some road repairs we also ensure will be completed by H-10,” Rivan said.
He added that several functional sections are also being prepared to support smooth traffic flow during the mudik season.
To anticipate vehicle congestion, Jasa Marga has conducted intensive coordination with various parties, including the Ministry of Transport and the National Police.
