Japek South CEO: 45,000 Vehicles Yet to Return to Jakarta
PT Jasamarga Japek Selatan has confirmed that 45,000 vehicles have yet to return to Jakarta and its surroundings via Japek 2 Selatan. Meanwhile, the flow of vehicles from Bandung towards Bekasi, Jakarta, and Bogor, passing through the functional lane of Japek 2 Selatan, from 19 to 25 March 2026, recorded 43,725 vehicles.
“Estimated vehicles yet to return to Jakarta are around 45,000 more,” said the President Director of PT Jasamarga Japek Selatan, Charles Lendra, when met at the Japek 2 Selatan Post, Thursday (26/3) afternoon.
Charles Lendra stated that the functional lane of Japek 2 Selatan, used since 19 March for the Lebaran return flow, will remain operational until Sunday, 29 March 2026.
“Japek 2 Selatan is for the return flow from Bandung to Jakarta until 29 March,” Charles emphasised.
Meanwhile, the capacity of vehicles passing through this functional lane averages between 350 and 700 vehicles per hour; if there is an increase in vehicle volume, traffic diversion will be implemented.
Observations at Japek 2 Selatan showed several vehicles heading to the Sadang toll gate exit still trapped in the functional lane of Japek 2 Selatan, forcing them to reverse out of the functional lane.
These vehicles became trapped because drivers were still relying on large signs indicating the direction to Sadang, even though the managers of the Japek 2 Selatan functional lane had installed directional signs for Japek 2 Selatan and closed the Sadang direction lane.
From 11 to 25 March 2026, or H-10 to H+4 of Lebaran 2026, the total traffic volume reached 2,875,280 vehicles.
The focus of personnel at present is to ensure the smooth flow of vehicles entering Jakarta after previously recording the highest peak during the mudik flow.
