Jakarta — PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk announced that the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) II Southern toll road will be operationalised during the Eid return traffic period this year in accordance with police discretion.

“The Japek II Southern toll road will be prepared specifically after 15 March. Why? Because Japek II Selatan is used for return traffic from the Bandung direction towards Jakarta,” said Jasa Marga Chief Executive Rivan A. Purwantono during a media briefing in Jatiasih, Bekasi, West Java on Tuesday.

The toll road’s operation aims to reduce traffic congestion that could potentially occur at kilometre 66, a congestion point where traffic from the Trans-Java toll meets traffic from the Cikampek–Purwakarta–Padalarang (Cipularang) toll heading towards Jakarta during the Eid return traffic period.

“Because this will ease congestion so traffic does not meet at kilometre 66, the public has requested to have the option or may even be required to use the Japek II Southern toll expressway. And it is ensured that all destinations, especially those heading to Cimanggis, Bogor, and Bekasi, can go directly via the operational Japek II Southern toll road,” said Rivan.

The Director of Traffic at West Java Police Headquarters, Kombes Pol Raydian Kokrosono, stated that the route is one of the sections being prepared following inspections conducted with the Head of Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) and the West Java Regional Police Chief.

According to him, opening the route is expected to split vehicle traffic from Central Java towards Jakarta, allowing congestion on the main route to be reduced.

In addition to Japek II Southern, the Bocimi toll section 3 spanning approximately 6 kilometres connecting Parungkuda to Karangtengah also has the potential to be opened functionally.

Meanwhile, West Java Police Headquarters has also begun finalising preparations for managing exodus and return traffic through traffic function work meetings as part of preparations for Operation Ketupat 2026.
