Japek II Southern Toll Road Opens for Functional Operation Following Police Discretion
KARAWANG — PT Jasamarga Japek Selatan is preparing the functional opening of the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) II Southern toll road section to support the smooth flow of Lebaran return traffic.
The toll section will function as an alternative route from Sadang to Jakarta during the 15-30 March 2026 period should congestion occur on the existing Japek toll road.
Chief Executive Officer of PT Jasamarga Japek Selatan Charles Lendra stated to the Trans Jawa 2026 Merapah team that the functional section has been prepared and is ready for use at any time in accordance with police discretion.
“If there is congestion at kilometre 66 and queuing at Kalitama (Kalihurip Utama), then with police discretion it can be deployed,” he said.
Charles added that the route is in a state of readiness for use at any time, however it will not be operated 24 hours continuously as it functions as an alternative route.
In this functional operation, PT Jasamarga Japek Selatan has prepared a 52-kilometre stretch from Sadang to Setu.
On this section there are four toll gates (GT) that can be used by road users: GT Kutanegara, GT Bojongmangu, GT Sukaragam, and GT Setu.
“There is a barrier there for transactions, but after passing through the functional Japek II Southern section there are no toll charges—it is free,” said Charles.
Charles also urged road users to pay attention to traffic signs and officer directions when traversing the functional section.
“Maximum speed should be 60 kilometres per hour,” said Charles.
This is because the toll road is still in the construction phase and has only been operationalised with a single lane.
Additionally, drivers are asked to ensure their vehicles are ready before entering Japek II Southern Toll Road, including fuel levels, tyre condition, and driver alertness to remain in optimal condition throughout the journey.
