PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk, through its subsidiary PT Jasamarga Japek Selatan (JJS), has resumed operations on the functional lane of the Jakarta-Cikampek II South Toll Road (Japek II South) Sadang-Setu segment, which stretches 52 km. This move was authorised by police discretion to ease traffic congestion on the return flow from the Cipularang Toll Road towards Jakarta via the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, expected to surge significantly today, Tuesday (24/3/2026). The reopening of the functional lane on the Japek II South Sadang-Setu segment began at 09:00 WIB on Tuesday (24/03/2026). Road users from Bandung can access the functional Japek II South Toll Road via the Sadang access at KM 76 of the Cipularang Toll Road towards Jakarta. Jasa Marga’s President Director, Rivan A. Purwantono, explained that, with police discretion and to introduce it to the public, the functional lane had been opened since 19 March 2026 from 09:55 to 16:00 WIB. Jasa Marga also recorded that during the period from 19-23 March 2026, the total traffic volume on this functional toll road reached 17,298 vehicles. “We ensure that safety and comfort aspects for toll road users are maintained while traversing the functional Jakarta-Cikampek II South Toll Road,” Rivan stated. “We have equipped it with railings as well as sufficient lighting facilities, along with the placement of operational service personnel such as Mobile Customer Service (MCS), tow trucks, ambulances, and rescue teams to assist road users in emergencies,” he added. Jasa Marga has also provided directional signs installed 1 km, 500 m, 200 m, and at intersections before the toll road entry access. Warning signs have been placed so that road users intending to use the alternative route can prepare before entering the functional lane. For road users heading to Karawang and surrounding areas, transactions can be made at the Kutanegara Gate Toll (GT). Meanwhile, users heading to Sukaragam, Bojongmangu, and Setu can transact at the temporary GT at STA 53+650. “We remind once again that this functional lane is not subject to toll fees. The tolls paid by road users at the Kutanegara GT or the temporary GT are not for the functional lane, but rather for the journey on the Cipularang Toll Road up to the Sadang access,” Rivan advised. Given that this lane is still functional in nature, road users are urged to increase vigilance while driving. Users are asked not to exceed 60 km/h, maintain safe distances between vehicles, obey traffic signs, and follow instructions from on-site personnel. Additionally, road users are advised to ensure they have fuel before entering the functional lane, although a temporary rest area at Sta 18+000 provides packaged fuel. Through the presence of this functional Japek II South lane, it is hoped to serve as an alternative traffic distribution, thereby reducing congestion on the existing Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road section during the 2026 Lebaran return flow period.
