Japek II South Toll Road Begins Opening, Easing Congestion in Cikampek
JAKARTA – The functional section of the Jakarta–Cikampek (Japek) II South toll road has begun operations to support the smooth return flow during Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.
The Task Force Head for Traffic Management and Security during Operation Ketupat 2026, Brigadier General Faizal, stated that traffic engineering is being implemented for vehicles travelling from Bandung towards Jakarta.
The diversion is routed through the Sadang toll to enter the functional Japek II South lane, which spans approximately 53 kilometres. This measure aims to alleviate traffic load on the main route.
He explained that the functional lane serves as an alternative to break up the density of vehicles converging at the Cikampek toll road.
During the return flow period, the convergence of traffic from various directions is one of the main causes of congestion. Therefore, vehicle distribution is being directed through the additional lane.
The use of the functional Japek II South toll road is currently limited to Class I vehicles or private cars.
This lane also provides access to several Jakarta satellite areas. Road users can continue their journey towards Cimanggis–Cibitung, Bogor, BSD, Serpong, or Jagorawi.
The implementation of this lane is situational, taking safety factors into consideration. In poor weather conditions such as heavy rain that reduces visibility, the lane will be temporarily closed. This policy is taken to prevent potential accidents.
“If there is heavy rain and limited visibility, we will close it temporarily because it is dangerous. Safety remains the priority,” Faizal explained.
To support operations, several facilities have been prepared along the functional route. These include rest areas, mini fuel stations, road lighting, and temporary parking bays.
Combined personnel are also on standby 24 hours to ensure the smooth and secure flow of traffic.
