TOKYO (AFP): Japan's government Tuesday sent a vice finance
minister to Indonesia for talks with new government leaders
there, a finance ministry official said.
Haruhiko Kuroda, vice finance minister for international
affairs, left Tokyo Tuesday "to meet leaders in the new
government," the official said, without naming Indonesian
officials who would meet Kuroda.
"When he will be back (to Japan) is kept open but may be
Thursday or Friday," the official said.
The official declined to comment on the topics Kuroda would
discuss with Indonesian politicians.
Jiji Press said Kuroda would meet with senior economy minister
Kwik Kian Gie, Finance Minister Bambang Sudibyo and other
government leaders.
He is expected to urge them to continue efforts to dispose bad
loans at banks and implement healthy macroeconomic policies, the
news agency said.
