Japanese tricked by new friends

DENPASAR, Bali: A thirty-year old Japanese filed a report with local police on Monday saying he had been duped by three unidentified locals during a card game in which he lost around Rp 34 million.

A police source identified the Japanese man as Toshio Inose.

The police report said that Inose admitted to having been lured by two new female acquaintances to play a card game that he had never played before.

Inose lost the game and had to pay Rp 500,000, which he handed over without complaining.

"Later, the women and another male friend of theirs took Inose for a car ride. They drove the jeep around Kuta and Legian. During the ride, the women again succeed in milking more money from Inose. He was told to withdraw Rp 5 million from an automatic teller machine (ATM) somewhere in Kuta," the source said.

It was unclear why the Japanese national always met the request of his new acquaintances for money.

To police Inose confessed that his new friends took him to a watch store where he was told to use his Amex card to buy an expensive wristwatch worth 100,000 Yen for the ladies. (zen)
