Japanese train taken on test-drive
JAKARTA: State railway operator PT KAI's Greater Jakarta Transportation division evaluated on Thursday morning the performance of one of four secondhand trains recently purchased from Japan.
The red train, which has four cars, made a smooth trip from Juanda station, Central Jakarta, to Kota station, West Jakarta and back.
Division head Rachmadi said that the secondhand trains were in good condition.
"The trains, with their total of 16 cars, enlarge the capacity of Greater Jakarta trains by 25 percent," he said.
He added that one of the trains would be operational in Nov. 1, serving the Tanah Abang-Bogor route, another in early December, serving the Serpong-Tangerang route. -- Antara
