Tokyo (ANTARA) - Japan’s Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi confirmed on Thursday that a Japanese-linked ship has successfully passed through the Strait of Hormuz safely.

In a press conference on the same day, Tomohide Miyata, President of Eneos Holdings Inc., stated that the tanker operated by the oil refining company has exited the strait area.

Foreign Minister Motegi explained to reporters that no toll fees were paid to the Iranian side to allow the ship to pass, which is known to be carrying four Japanese crew members.

Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs added in a press release that the government has “directly requested from Iran on every opportunity” to facilitate passage routes for such ships.

To date, there are still 39 other Japanese-related ships located in the Persian Gulf area.

Previously, an oil tanker operated by a subsidiary of Idemitsu Kosan Co. was also confirmed to have transited the strait, following tensions after the United States and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran on 28 February.
